2021 Inspire Award Winners

Marley Athens

Schoo Middle School
8th Grade
Nominated By: Principal Cedric Cooper

Marley brings joy and positivity to her school community every day. She always starts the day by giving the staff and her peers a warm greeting. She cares about everyone and is interested to learn about their lives (especially their pet dogs). Marley continues to grow as an independent young adult and is a true delight to be around.

Marley has grown so much in her 3 years at Schoo. As a 6th grade student, Marley was often hard to motivate. She did not want to come to school, and when at school, she would often refuse to work. Now, as an 8th grader, it never appears that Marley does not want to be at school. She often initiates conversations with known staff. She has a great memory of their animals and their families and often asks how they are. She will also ask to see pictures.

Additionally, as a 6th grader, most of Marley's classes were in the life skills program. As an 8th grader, she attends ACES classes, a social studies class, and a reading class. She has shown great growth.
