Jessica Auffert

Dawes Middle School
Special Education Teacher
Nominated By: Principal Liz Miller

Jessica Auffert is a leader who truly focuses on “all means all” and doing what’s best for kids. Over the years, Jessica has demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities on the special education team at Dawes Middle School. She has strengthened special education processes and support through her collaboration and problem solving. However, she is continuously thinking about how we can still do better. Her organization, planning and communication truly make a difference and allow the special education team to work more effectively. She is a team leader for not only the special education team, but the whole school as well. She involves herself in numerous committees and works collaboratively with the general education teachers to best plan for students. She advocates and collaborates by building rapport with students, families and other educators to provide necessary support for students both academically and behaviorally.
Jessica continuously analyzes her data to determine the best level of support for her students. She is a fierce advocate for her students and is driven by their success. Whether it be layering on more supports or layering down from supports, Jessica is not a passive special education case manager. Rather, she actively searches for how best to support each individual student. Due to her dedication to her craft, leadership, communication and collaboration, Jessica has witnessed the success of many students. For these reasons and more, Jessica possesses the qualities of an outstanding educator, who is undoubtedly deserving of the Inspire Award.
